The Latest in Celebrity Meal Deals: Vegan Hot Dogs for Surrealist Comedians

Usually a celebrity fast food promotion includes a big-name music artist, whose music plays a role in the whole thing.

But, a sketch comedy show on Netflix called “I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson” became a sleeper sensation, inspiring countless memes and injecting quotes into common vernacular. One of them in particular includes Robinson in a hot dog suit, making it appropriate for the plant-based fast food chain Plant Power Fast Food to partner with Detroit native Robinson for a Detroit-style Coney Dog.

In addition to the actual hot dog, the company is launching a full range of merchandise like apparel and headwear that celebrates the “Tim Robinson Coney Club.”

The Plant Power site was selling a very busy and surreal T-shirt, which matches the frenetic and off-kilter style of the show, with Robinson’s head morphing into a hot dog.

Obviously, fans of the show were excited about this, as the $30 T-shirt sold out. The nylon hat, with a slightly toned down design, also sold out.

The best part of all of this is that proceeds from the sale go toward Genesis Butler’s Youth Climate Save, which is a youth-led initiative that is “spotlighting the link between animal agriculture and our planet’s health.”

“I Think You Should Leave” found itself at the center of a promo night in Wrigley Field, too, showing the power of a good meme-able piece of pop culture, and how something can work across different sections of pop culture and still make sense.
